Organization of the finished container warehouse

Organization of the finished container warehouse

Warehouses are specially equipped facilities for storing goods. These may include raw materials for industrial enterprises, finished products of various categories ready for sale, auxiliary materials, as well as packaging. And when it comes to finished food products or any household goods, it’s much easier to picture a warehouse. But what about packaging? What is packaging? What does it look like and how should it be stored…

Types of packaging and methods of storage

All existing packaging is typically classified based on its material. Wood, metal, cardboard, plastic, glass, all kinds of fabrics—these are the materials used to make packaging. The packaging itself is designed to protect goods and present them attractively to the consumer. Packaging is also categorized by its purpose, which includes:

  • packaging used during the production process;
  • packaging for storing goods in warehouses;
  • packaging as the finished product packaging.

The material used to make packaging affects the methods and rules for storing it. Glass packaging requires the utmost care. While it is not affected by moisture, it is susceptible to physical impact. Cardboard packaging, on the other hand, does not tolerate moisture and becomes warped when exposed to it.

No matter the type of packaging, it is a product that is often simply indispensable. This high demand for ready-made packaging confirms the need for its production. Companies that manufacture ready-made packaging are always in demand, and their products are highly sought after.

Types of storage facilities for containers and the warehouse equipment used in them

A container warehouse can be located at the manufacturing facility or at retail locations. In any case, a facility for finished packaging requires proper organization in terms of equipment and warehouse machinery. The organization of the warehouse and the choice of equipment depend on the type of packaging and its material.

Types of finished packaging warehouses and equipment for them:

  1. Cardboard packaging warehouse – finished cardboard packaging is stored in enclosed, well-ventilated storage areas. Products can be placed on special racks, depending on the size of the containers. An electric cargo tricycle or an electric cart with an open platform can be used to move cardboard containers.
  2. Storage facility for glass containers—finished glass containers must be stored in special crates placed on racks or floor pallets. If necessary, they can be wrapped in protective film to prevent damage during handling and transport. Trolleys for handling glass containers may have a rubberized platform and protective sides. Glass containers are placed in boxes on these carts.
  3. Wooden container storage – in most cases, wooden containers are untreated and unprotected. It is susceptible to moisture, so the storage facility for such goods must be dry and warm. Wooden containers can be moved using virtually any cart, whether with or without side panels.
  4. Warehouses with plastic containers—while plastic is a lightweight material, it is also durable and resistant to moisture. The range of plastic containers is quite large and diverse. This includes both household containers and containers for industrial use. They can be transported and moved using any warehouse vehicle. Four-wheeled carts for moving plastic containers, as well as warehouse tricycles, are perfectly suited for this task.
  5. Storage for metal containers—metal is one of the strongest materials, more resistant to physical impact. A wide variety of containers are made from metal, including household goods, utility items, and technical containers. It can be stored on racks, pallets, or in cabinets. Suitable equipment includes hydraulic platform trucks, self-propelled electric trucks, and tricycles. Any warehouse vehicle can easily handle the movement of metal containers both inside and outside the warehouse.

Warehouse equipment such as electric pallet trucks and tricycles are professional machines specifically designed for their intended purpose. They are distinguished by their maneuverability, endurance (they can operate continuously for many hours at a time), and safety in use. Therefore, choosing such equipment is always a sound decision.
